Conference: Arabic on Campus and Beyond

This one-day conference, entitled “Arabic on Campus and Beyond”, will bring together high-profile speakers from the UK’s top universities, secondary schools and government institutions. The conference will tackle subjects including the use of innovative technologies such as e-learning and pod-casts which are being pioneered at the University of Edinburgh; the differing motivations and purposes students have for learning Arabic and the career options available to them; the experience of studying the language in an Arab country; and the future of the field including the potential for including Arabic language as part of the national curriculum. Sessions will run consecutively through the day, with breaks for refreshments and lunch. Each session will open with a panel of four expert speakers, followed by a chaired question and answer and discussion session from the floor.
