Said Shehata, London Metropolitan University
“State and Political Islam in Egypt”
The talk will analyse the relationship between the Muslim Brotherhood and the governing regime in Egypt. It will tackle the clashes and honeymoon periods of their relationship. It will examine the recent circumstances of electing a new General Guide and the future of the relations between both sides. Dr Said Shehata is an expert on the issues of political Islam in the MIddle East and Europe. He has taught more than 3 years in Middle East Politics and International Relations at the London Metropolitan University. He has published 10 academic papers in 10 edited books in addition to publishing numerous articles in Arabic and English on the issues of Islamic movements and political reform in the Arab world. He has been a guest on several TV channels, including the BBC.
