Ghassan Khatib,
the first Visitng Fellow (at University of Durham) of the Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World, gave a lecture in Edinburgh on 17 July to an enthusiastic audience of 53, including many members of the general public. The question-and-answer session, which lasted for half an hour, was particularly lively, and continued at the reception which followed the lecture.
