Supporting our International Future: Cross-Sector Partnerships to Promote Languages in Scotland

Organised jointly by the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies and CASAW, this event will focus on providing support for languages through partnerships between universities, colleges and schools. It will also explore opportunities to build on existing initiatives and discuss practical and strategic issues involved in expanding collaborative networks to include more universities, colleges and schools and will also cover the following themes :  the current state of cross-sector activity in modern languages in Scotland the delivery of language policy in an era of bilingualism, multilingualism and increasing internationalisation the new Scottish Language Baccalaureate and its implications for universities and schools transition into higher education in languages Case studies of good practice in cross-sector work will also be showcased.  Confirmed speakers : Dr Hannah Doughty (Scottish CILT)  Angela Gallagher-Brett (LLAS Subject Centre)  Dr Donna Heddle (UHI Orkney)  Linda Hartley (University of Dundee)  Dr Elisabeth Kendall (University of Edinburgh)  Professor Clare Mar-Molinero (University of Southampton)  Heather McGuinness (Routes into Languages)  Joanne McPake (Scottish CILT)  Professor Antonella Sorace (University of Edinburgh)  Dr Graeme Trousdale (University of Edinburgh)  Jocelyn Wyburd (University of Manchester)  Workshop fee There is no charge to attend for employees and postgraduate students of publicly funded UK educational institutions. The fee for employees and postgraduate students of private institutions/organisations and non-UK institutions is £40.  Lunch will be provided.
